753

"Shichi go san ( 7 5 3 ) " celebration is not a must but has become a trend and a good-money bussiness nowadays.

I remember Ryu`s mother proudly showing off the 753 photo album, capturing the memory of her boy turning 3 years old. A set of 4 photos, plus rented kimono for her daugther and son cost her 30 000 yen. An outdoor photo session will cost more definately. I told her, with that money, I might be able to find a decent wedding photography course in Malaysia ( at least 10 pictures plus wedding gown)

In the old time, bringing up a child is a very difficult task, given low economic productivity and inefficient medical practice. Mortallity rate for the child under the age of 10 was low.

Therefore, parents with with kids of age 3 (boys and girls), 5 (only boys) and 7 (only girls), will bring their kids to the temple to thank the deities for the blessings.

Shichi-go-san is celebrated on 11th November.

It is cold here! Where the hell is mum?
