Kamogawa = Kamo (ducks) + gawa (river). This river indeed is habitat and migration point for several type of birds.
Most commonly seen are the Magamo (マガモ)(Anas platyrhynchos ) and Karugamo (カルガモ)(Anas poecilorhyncha). Both are in the ducks family.

The more elegant and rare bird in Kamogawa is the heron. Thanks to Ernesto's invitation and great idea of luring those birds with 99 yen bread, I managed to get some shots of Aosagi (アオサギ) (Ardea cinerea) in action.

This post is also dedicated to him, to stop his nagging. :P

Aosagi (heron) and Magamo (duck)

Look ! Aosagi is aiming on the bread.

Huh?

P/S: This is the list of birds found in Kamogawa (in Japanese)
